In the final phase of the roll out of Home Information Packs, the Government has announced that all homes marketed for sale from December 14, 2007 in England and Wales will require a Home Information Pack (HIP).
Home Information Packs contain important information about a property for prospective buyers. It will include a rating of the energy efficiency of the property, as well as other relevant information that will help improve the home buying and selling process.
This new level of transparency will ensure that a buyer will be able to make an offer to purchase based on an informed decision at a very early stage. It will also help address the number of failed transactions (28% of all property sales fail after terms are agreed) and the high costs associated with these failures (over £350 million per year).
